Consideraţii asupra plasticii antropomorfe gumelniţene

  • Subiect: „The present article refers to how the head of the clay figurines belonging to Gumelniţa culture had been realized. The analysis of these heads showed the existence of patterns in their modeling. The heads are modeled in various ways, from rough and schematic to realistic. A typical head for Gumelniţa culture is the so called trilobate head. It is formed of three lobs from which two represent the ears and the third represents the nose. The anatomical details of the face follow the patterns as well. The big ears are perforated, the nose is prominent, and the mouth is figurate by an incision marked by a range of little holes. Some heads have the face formed of two plans with the median edge as nose, sometimes strongly prominent, like a bird beck. Certain heads wear expressions. Some seem to have closed eyes suggesting persons that rest. Others have an opened mouth suggesting a shouting person. The heads are modeled after certain patterns, their diversity depending on the craftsman skill and Gumelniţa culture regional specific.”
