  • Subiect: Archaeological discoveries on transition sites (Part. II) On the occasion of the early evacuations for the transition of the Saint Elie Rahova Church (build in 1838), the foundation and a small part of the elevation of the previous church from 1738, and also remains of a XVIIth century church foundations were discovered. 49 tombs were also found. On the Saint John the New church transition site it was noticed that the church that was to be moved was, in fact, a new construction, dating from between the years 1934-1936. This new church had been built on the basements of an older church, from 1818. Inside these, the foundations and a part of the elevation were discovered of a church risen in 1756. The ancient course of the Dambovitza river was also re-traced, dating from before the sewerage works undergone by the end of 1he XIXth century.
