Plătitorii de impozite în perioada domniei lui Constantin Brâncoveanu

  • Subiect: The Income Tax Payers During the Constantin Brâncoveanu’s Reign The present paper focuses on one of the main parts of the economy of a state, i.e. the structure of the taxpayer people, as it appears in one of the main economic and fiscal documents of Wallachia: The Income and Outlays Register of Constantin Brâncoveanu’s Treasure House. The information from this fiscal document – one of the most staunch documents of the Wallachia history – was colligated with other information from other fiscal documents (The Anatefter or the Register of the Commandments of the Treasure House) or other types of sources: narrative (chroniclers, travel notes of foreign travellers), letters, chancellor's office documents (customs foresights, deeds, official narrative studies of the Hapsburg authorities). We want to spotlight the problems of the historiography of the study, because it was tributary to the class struggle principles until 1989. The ”class struggle” was not a characteristic of the pre-modern period of the social history of Wallachia in the way the communist historiography described it. We tried to be as critical and neutral as possible and thus we compared each assertion to information from different sources.
