Tezaurul monetar de la Verveghiu, sec. XVI-XVII

  • Subiect: The Coin Hoard of Verveghiu, 16th – 17th Century The paper deals with a hoard found in 1986, in the Verveghiu, village, Sălaj district and kept in the Museum of the town Zalău. The 172 silver coins of the hoard were issued in Transylvania, Poland, Lituania, Swidnica, in the Baltic cities of Riga and Elbing, in Prussia, in Hungary, in Bohemia, in the Anhalt principality, in Saxonia, in the city of· Nurnberg and in the provinces Holland and Overijssel. The hoard consists of 6 talers, 14 six grouches coins, 14 three grouched coins, 6 broad grouches, 104 dreipolker, 2 grouches, a three Kreutzer coin, 4 half grouches, 18 dinars and 3 hellers. The hoard represents something like 1610,5 dinars. Out of this sum the Transylvanian coins represent 2,0490/o, the polish (together with the ones arrived here across Poland from Lituania, Swidnica, Riga, Elbing, Prussia) 46,9410/o, the Hungarian ones 1,117%, the coins of Bohemia 0,093%, and those arrived from Central and Western Europa 49,798%. The hoard was buried in 1637 on account of the struggle for the throne of Transylvania.
