Declinul mişcării legionare. Desfăşurarea evenimentelor din 21-23 ianuarie 1941 în Dobrogea

  • Subiect: „The Legion was elirninated frorn the govemrnent coalition following the events between the 21st-23rd of January 1941 due to the worsening contradictions between the legionary representatives and general Ion Antonescu, the „de facto” leader of the country who managed to gain the III-rd Reich full support. The generous attitude manifested by Berlin was generated by the strong irnpression that Antonescu had produced on Germans, because he was the only leader able to ensure the full rnobilization of the econornical and military potential of Rornania, needed on attacking the Soviet Union, in the sumrner of 1941. The anarchist activities conducted by the legionaries in Dobrudja, in the above-rnentioned context, following the strategy established by the national representatives of the movernent, determined a firm retort frorn behalf of the army and national forces, leading to banning the legionary elernents frorn the state power. After that period, the legionaries frorn the country as well as those in exile resumed their illegal subversive activities, but without regaining the power to have a decisive impact on the political life of the country.”
