Obiecte de toaletă. Piepteni din necropola birituală de secol IV D. Chr. De la Barcea

  • Subiect: Combs are among the most important toiletry implements found in the tombs of the Barcea bi-ritual necropolis. When the tombs were uncovered, 43 pieces were found, most of them in inhumation tombs, and only two in incineration tombs. Only 39 pieces could be used for the typology. The combs were made of three layers of plates for the handles; only one comb was made of a single piece (found in tomb 145) and was used as a pendant. Depending on the way the handle was made, the 39 pieces are classified into types with variants and sub-variants. Type I. Combs with trapezoidal handle Type II. Combs with semicircular handle Type III. Combs with semicircular handle and winged endplates Type IV. Combs with the winged endplates of the handle made of two pieces Type V. Combs with triangular handle Type VI. Double-sided combs Type VII. Comb made of a single piece of bone The typology of the combs from the Barcea necropolis (4th century AD) will, together with other finds, help establish a relative chronology of the burials.
