Călăraşi Archive Documents in the Memory of Bărăgan: Banat Dislocations

  • Subiect: ln June 1951 one of the mast cruel communist action in history took place, which marked lives and destroyed fates. Dislocations in Banat area changed the history of some places and made the artificial coming out of some settlements during a period when it was thought that the determination phase of human settlements came to an end. The population deported to the Bărăgan arid area fie Id counted almost 10.000 human beings, brought in wagons and with unmarked destination in their consciousness. People from Banat had been deported, at night, near the localities Dâlga, Cacomeanca, Pietroiu, Borcea, Dragalina and Gâldau from the former Ialomiţa county current along the perimeter of Călăraşi county. The communities of people deported had been located on the perimeter of these villages, new establishments being settled, such as: Roseţii Noi- became Olaru, Dragalina Noua- Dropia, Dâlga Noua- became Pelinu , Cacomeanca Noua- became Ezeru, Jegalia Noua- became Salcami, Borcea Noua- became Pelicanu, and Pietroiu Nou- later named Movila Gâldăului. A new life began for these people, new pages of their lives were written, new fates were marked. The calvary lasted until the summer of 1955, when domiciliary restrictions had been annulled. The tragedy was not finished. After arriving back home, to Banat, mast of the people found out that they did nat actually belong to those places and they had become strangers to their native places; the houses- their native roots- had been either nationalized, or demolished, for the abandon reason. Some of them, resigned, returned to the gulag marked by the communists, others went on jighting to regain their !ost destiny. This material is based on documentary proofsfound in the archives of Călăraşi and here and there contains evocations of people who lived these tragedies during the communist regime.
