  • TITLU în română: Emigrarea evreilor prin portul Constanţa: tragedia navei „Struma" (1941-1942)
  • Subiect: The emigration of the Jews through Constanţa harbour between 1940-1944 has reflected, on one side, the propensity of this minority to establish itself in Palestine, the general desire to survive by departing the space of German Nazi domination, and on the other side, a sui generis tendency of Antonescu regime's policy. Amang the conclusions which derive from the analysis of this distinct process, we can retain the following: - the German authorities in the harbour had a minimal intervention to this movement, being unable to stop, in case they tried, (respectively the boats Struma, Maritza) the departure of any boot transporting Jewish passengers from the Constanţa harbour. - as far as the rhythm of emigration through the mast important Romanian harbour within the previously delimited period is concerned, there are three distinguishable phases: I. November 1940-December 1941, when over 1 00 Jews (unfortunately, the largest transport, Struma, ended tragically) departed by sea to Eretz Yisrael. II. February 1942-January 1944, when small groups of Jewish subjects exited as passengers on ships and small boats (approx. 200 ?); III. February 1944-August 1944, when the number of the Jewish emigrants increased substantially, the ships that lefi for the Orient transporting over 3200 Jews.
