"Life stories; My Grandparents"- a project of local history

  • TITLU în română: „Poveşti de viaţă; bunicii mei"- proiect de istorie locală
  • Subiect: The oral history has long been regarded and it is considered even today as being too subjective, as a sort of a pariah of history. The official history of the state, i.e. the political history, has long been the only one accepted and the only one imposed. The grand history was the history of the officials, the leaders and not of the ordinary people or of the "others". lt stood for, if you want, a clear-cut delimitation benveen THEM and US. Oral history brings an interdisciplinary and a multidisciplinary approach, puls forward new hotly debated themes, each of them equally interesting and highly original. This project of oral history "Life Stories; My Grandparents" is a pursuit of uncovering the past around us, which slwuld be regarded as an essential component of any pedagogical endeavour during the history classes. The events around us, as well as our homes slwuld constitute a starting point in preparing students andin stimulating their interest in history. Students will be able to identify themselves with the community in which they live, they will acquire the ability to appreciate the contribution of the previous generations to the development of the village, they will show gratitude and respect for their grandparents and the elders of the community. Such a project is required in order to achieve a return towards the family values, towards authentic moral values, towards discovering some authentic role models and not fabricated by nowadays media.
