Principiul autodeterminării naţionale reflectat în discursul bărnauţean

  • Subiect: The principle of self – determination reflected in Bărnuţiu s discourse The period between 1848 and 1849 also meant an outstanding moment in the development of historiography opening a new chapter in the dialogue history politics. The preset study deals with the underlining of Bărnuţiu the ideologist of the Romanian Revolution in Transylvania and ideas concerning the principle of self-determination which is to be found in his representative work - the Discourse in Blaj - a complex debate as far as the rights of the Romanian nation were concerned. Simion Bărnuţiu defined the right of a nation to self-determination by a word that meant law, territory and national power, stressing due to this principle the Rumanian’s right to property in Transylvania, considered a Rumanian national district. National self-determination implies political institutions, church, cultural and juridical institutions according to each nation's right to organize and develop itself „following its own personality as well as the various branches of the state, maintaining its tradition and its national specificity. Thus, Bărnuţiu's discourse overcomes the value of a simple protest article, becoming a call towards his conational, a public manifestation, both powerful and necessary for the Enlighted Romanian people.
