Mormântul lui Constantin Vodă Brâncoveanu

  • Subiect: The Voivode Constantin Brâncoveanu’s Tomb In the first part of this article the author presents the causes that led to the banishment and then to the execution of Constantin Brâncoveanu together with his four sons and the treasurer Ianache in Istanbul on the 15th of August 1714. Then, the difficulties of the bringing the remains of the voivode and those of one of his sons in the New Saint George from Bucharest are described. The action was top secret, and the historians considered it certain only in 1914. Finally the author sustains the bringing of the remains of the saint martyr Constantin Brâncoveanu, sanctified on the 20th of June 1992 by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, at the Hurezi monastery in the tomb that the voivode himself had prepared more than 300 years ago.
