Concursul de urbanism şi arhitectură "Catedrala Mântuirii Neamului" - exerciţiu de interpretare

  • Subiect: An Exercise of Interpretation Building a new Nations' Salvation Cathedral bas long been a desiderate of the Romanian Orthodox Church, a target and an aim deeply enrooted in the tradition connected to the most frequent pious deeds of the higher or lower class representatives, throughout the centuries. The atheistic-materialistic atmosphere typical of the communist epoch bas generated a forced interruption within what should have been a natural evolution/dynamics in the ecclesiastical architecture. The paper present one of the projects involved in the competition and selection organized for the building of a new Cathedral; the architectural solution presented in an intelligent, well-elaborated one combining both ecclesiastical tradition and artistic novelty. The author of the project, architect Dorin Stefan, bas minutely considered religious architectural formulae and dogmatic symbolism, reaching elegant visual solution adjusted to the Orthodox Dogma, offering, at the same time, an appropriate answer to contemporary esthetic exigencies.
