Centenar "David Prodan" (1902-1992)

  • Subiect: When considering the engage of David Prodan's personality, we see a highly talented scientist who brought a brilliant and unique contribution to the development of the XXth century Transylvanian historiography, part of the family of high spirited men like Bogdan Petriceicu Hşdeu, A.D. Xenopol and Nicolae Iorga. He became well-known as an archivist, researcher and as an exceptional university teacher, belonging to the Cluj history school tradition, whose remarkably accomplished representatives were Alexandru Lapedatu, Silviu Dragomir, loan Lupas and many others. In his work he has interested in the Transylvanian pleasant people, the Transylvanian national movement and in the Peasant Rebellion led by Horea, Cloşca and Crişan. His work is a true masterpiece of erudition, historical discourse and of comprehensive use of the historical sources that awards the Academy member David Prodan the fame of being the greatest Transylvanian historian of all times.
