Cu privire la genalogia unui însemnat boier muntean din veacul al XV-lea

  • Subiect: Regarding the Genealogy of an Important Boyar of the 15th Century Wallachia Dan the magistrate, aka Durduca (Plump), probably because of his aspect, was a descendant of an old family of boyars, closely related (if not identical) to that of the famous boyars Floreşti, - played an important role in the tormented and unstable internal political life in the time of the voivodes Basarab cel Bătrân (Laiotă) and Basarab cel Tânăr (Ţepeluş). Between 1475 and 1478 (with some breaks determined by the frequent changing of the rulers) Dan Durduca was always among the first 4-5 boyars who led the lordly assembly, which was formed by some old and important boyars’ families (the Mărgineanus, the Sahacescus, the Borcescus, the Craiovescus), some of them being closely related to the voivodes of the ruling dynasty and having the roots in the 14th and 15th centuries. Dan Durduca always owned a huge estate: from the old Mehedinţi County to the north of the ex Argeş County - in Ţara Loviştei and along the Topolog Valley - and downward to Teleorman County. The inheritors of his huge fortune were families of boyars who strongly influenced the political life of Wallachia (the Golescus, the Drăgoiescus, the Stănescus, and the Buzescus). His descendants were related both to the boyars belonging to Ghizdavăţ family (one of whose member, Stoica Ghizdavăţ was a collaborator of both the king of Hungary and of Ioan de Hunedoara) and to the boyars from Cepturoaia (among them the Buzescus).
