Biserica de lemn din Sadu (jud. Sibiu): Un experiment valoros privind translarea şi restaurarea unui monument istoric

  • Subiect: The wooden church from Sadu, Sibiu County Some hundreds of old wooden churches still exist in Romania today. Out of them, the most well-known monuments are the wooden churches in Maramures, which have been the object of extensive research throughout the years. In the Sibiu County, only six such churches are preserved. Their stories are complex and intricate and no exhaustive study has been performed so far on this topic. The paper refers to the wooden church in the village Sadu and it is part of a broader research programme that aims to provide monographs of all wooden churches in the Sibiu diocese. The wooden church in Sadu is an interesting case. It was built by the villagers in the early 18th century and went through many changes during its existence. The study follows all these transformations, placing them in their historical context.
