Punte peste veacuri. Biserica cu hramul Pogorîrea Sfîntului Duh din Complexul Naţional Muzeal "Astra" Sibiu

  • Subiect: The architecture of Transylvanian wooden churches indicates, over centuries, the intensity of a nation which succeeded in understanding its calling. These monuments of authentic Romanian genius are, in their actual shape, the resuit of a long process which has been indissolubly related to the geographical, historical, cultural, social and economic realities. The church with the titular saint „The Descent of the Holy Spirit" from National Museum Complex "Astra" Sibiu impresses from both theological and artistic point of view. We can claim that the iconographical program of the wooden church with the titular saint „The Descent of the Holy Spirit" of National Museum Complex „ASTRA" Sibiu justifies the affirmation according to which the characteristics of Romanian painting, which has often risen even in the area of the Byzantine art, and has reached absolutely remarkable formulas, are not yet entirely known. Referring to the restoration of this historical monument, we must stress that it was done with responsibility by o restoration team leaded by Mr.Octavian Ciocsan. With this occasion we also welcome the repairing process suggested by Mr. Corneliu Bucur, manager of The National Museum Complex „ASTRA", who, through his inexhaustible endeavour, has succeeded in restoring this monument and rendering it to the tourists. As a consequence now this definite area of folk architecture has two wooden churches that are considered historical monuments. Totalising representative creations for each province of the country, this flag of remembrance, represents and will represent over centuries, into a secularised and secularising Europe, the visiting card of a nation which has been condemned to passing but cruel dominances.
