  • Subiect: Avram Iancu – Romanians tutorial symbol The historical essay deals with the exceptional personality of Avram Iancu, the general prefect of the Romanian Revolution of 1848-1849 in Transylvania, without whose actions the revolution itself and the later Union of 1918 cannot be understood. The author selected various testimonies - many of them contemporarily with the hero, or close to his historical deeds of to the events he took part in: notes, manuscripts and memories of the revolution leaders, of his companions in arms, correspondence, autobiographical writings - or appealing to popular judgement and memory included in older Romanian calendars. Together they harmoniously draw the personality of the great fighter for freedom, against despotism and brutal terrorism and against those who understood neither the evolution of the times nor the will of a whole people.
