  • Subiect: „Far away of being a feature of the Romainian society the textile tradition represent the reflection of the economic, spiritual and aesthetic status. This is the inheritance we received from our forerunners and that we feel obliged to keep it and to hand it over to our children. One of the most impressive etnographic regions of Romania, Sibiu Area is divided in three large ethnographic zones: Mărginimea Sibiului, Hârtibaci Valley and Olt Country. Between them the Hârtibaci Valley give 's us a distinguished image of textile traditions. Today, Alţâna village, documentar attested in 1291, is still a powerful processing center of textile and animal fibers. In Alţâna woven traditions are very strong because in the village there was a real family school of the weaver Silvia Tecoan[ă (Foto 12). Today her activity is sustain by the Traditional Crafts Workshop established through effors of the co/lector Ştefan Vaida - his collection count over 600 traditional objects. The research in Al[âna was made in summer of 2003 and it was part of the Project Crafts - Culture without frontiers developed by Craft Foundation (Bucharest, Romania) in collaboration with National Complex ASTRA Museum Sibiu, Egnatia Epirus Foundation (loannina, Grece) and UNESCO Paris.”
