Ansamblul istoric "Ghica Tei şi mănăstirea "Plumbuita"

  • Subiect: The Plumbuita monastery was risen due to three series of founders who have endowed it with lands, shops, mills, vineyards, ecclesiastical objects which made it one of the richest in the area. According to the historian Nicolae Iorga, its first founder was ruler Petru Vodă, son of Mircea Ciobanul and of his wife Chiajna. The founders' portraits can be seen painted on the interior walls of the church. Its third founder was ruler Matei Basarab who took great care of the monument. Today the monastic life has revived, and the place has regained its vitality.
