  • Subiect: The Personality of Avram Iancu in Monumental Sculpture The preoccupation of the generation in the end of the 19th century of honoring Avram Iancu's memory materialized after the accomplishment of the Great Union, when a series of actions were triggered with the purpose of bringing meaningful documents into the public forum and in institutions. The initiators, sculptors, builders, press and all others who had joined this action also had a large support from the public, who listened to the calls of the leading commission, by participating with money contributions, with beneficial considerations both upon the marking of the monuments and models, their location, the organizing of the solemnities that took place together with the uncovering and later upon maintaining the monuments and in participating at the praising of this hero of the Romanian people. The most important accomplishments, their fate in time are also mentioned, as they are a conclusive inheritance of the successors. Knowing their "biography" is now a must so that this way we may embark upon the actions meant to accomplish their protection.
