Atitudinea românilor din străinătate faţă de pacea de la Buftea - Bucureşti (24 aprilie/ 7 mai 1918)

  • Subiect: In 1918, after the peace talks between Romania and the central european states (April 24/ May /), the Treaty was signed in the Cotroceni Palace. The peace imposed by the three allied states had an annoying character, and Romania was to be transformed into a semi colony of Germany and her allies and Romania was to be depleted both of her territories and her national wealth. The politicians, the press and the international public opinion, ascertained the enslaving character of the Bucharest - Buftea peace treaty. By signing it, Romania lost the international position the country had previously gained. Some „Antante" circles were reserved in their relation with Romania, although, at the moment, there was no other solution but signing the respective treaty.
