The battle of Margum or where emperor Carinus died?

  • TITLU în română: Bătălia de la Margum sau unde a murit împăratul Carinus?
  • Subiect: Eusebius in his lost Chronicon mentions that Emperor Carinus died in Cornacum that contradicts the Latin tradition based on the lost Kaisergeschichte. Based on this tradition the emperor was killed in the battle of Margum against Diocletian. In this paper the author examines the written sources of this event, the several Byzantine variants and comes to the conclusion that Carinus was killed after the battle around the Pannonian fort Cornacum as he tried to flee.
