Aspecte privind creşterea hidroponică a plantelor

  • Subiect: The increased population size and improper agricultural practices which lead to denatured soil quality, rushed humanity towards finding new solutions and practices for sustainable plant agriculture. Hydroponic cultivation is one such example, presented in this article and commercially used in vast majority of developed countries. This type of cultivation reduces pest attack risk and dissemination of pathogens, increases productivity and uses less water, making it a better alternative to the soil-based one. This article starts with a short history of hydroponics, describes the primary types of systems (like wick system, floating bed system, ebb and flow system, nutrient film technique system, drip system and aeroponic system) which can be adapted to almost all terrestrial and aquatic plants and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of hydroponic method compared to classic agricultural techniques. Also, the text offers a few hints for the construction of such a hydroponic system, highlighting the need for an initial investment, electric energy and qualified personnel. This review article covers the main aspects concerning hydroponic systems.
