  • Subiect: ROM NIA 1940-1945-ECONOMICS LOSS The author estimates in a unitary visions and on the basis of a sound archive documentation the economic losses that affected Romania's national wealth between 1940-1945. The conclusion that author emphasizes is that the territorial transfers from 1940 to some neighbouring countries which had claimed these territories, caused these losses and they were followed by Romania's involvement in the World War II and its costs, by the destruction of goods during the military hostilities which took place on the Romanian territory and by the costs of their rehabilitation during the post-war period. The final balance of the losses and of their value - according to the author - exceeded 103 times the value of the Romanian national income in 1938 (37 billions of lei), the equivalent of 27.142.857 USD (l USD rate of change =140 lei) and it exceeded 125 times the Romanian budget (32,2 billions of lei) for the year 1939 - 1940. The author also specifies that over 75% of the losses were from the wealth of the Romanian population.
