  • Subiect: The purpose of this article is to comprehensively present one of the Romanian manuscripts from the valuable collection of the Romanian Academy's Library. The diptych of the Gavanele convent (now out of use), Buzau county, is a material of interest for the history, in general, but of particular interest for our church's history. It shows how, by the contribution of those who were wealthy or those who were poor, by the contribution of the rulers and those who are ruled over, many of the monkish institutions survived in this area. Over the years for these establishments the donations of the ordinary people were essential. This material also presents a linguistic interest as it enables the study of the evolution of the persons' names.
