Un proces politic răsunător? Honoriu Bănescu de la Partidul Naţional Liberal cu Armand Călinescu de la Partidul Naţional Ţărănesc

  • Subiect: A Resonant Political Trial? Honorius Banescu of The Naţional Liberal Party Versus Armand Calinescu of The National Peasant Party A political conflict broke out between the newly appointed prefects of Arges County in 1928, Armand Calinescu, representing the National Peasant Party, and Honorius Banescu, the former prefect of Arges County and Liberal National Party leader of Arges. The former prefect was accused of using a part of public money for the building or reconstruction of the schools affected after World War I for his own personal interest. The trial of the two politicians lasted for 10 years, until the last forum of the country's judiciary, the High Court of Cassation and Justice, which should have stated a final ruling in this trial, however it did not succeed, given that in 1939 the Prime Minister of the country, Armand Calinescu, was assassinated by legionnaires.
