Intelectuali argeşeni şi muşceleni la Vălenii de Munte

  • Subiect: Intellectuals from Argeş and Muşcel At Vălenii De Munte Gheorghe I. Cotenescu was a remarkable personality during the interwar years. He was appointed priest of the new Stoenesti parish and, while teaching at theological schools in Campulung, Curtea de Argeş and Cernica, he also organized many civic, cultural and artistic activities in Stoeneşti, Câmpulung, Muscel County and Bucharest. He was a military chaplain in the Great War. He composed religious music. He was a columnist and a member of the Cultural League and other cultural societies in Muscel, Bucharest and at the national level. After excruciating efforts, his work on the new church from Stoeneşti was completed and consecrated by His Beatitude Patriarch Nicodim in October, 1939. Father Cotenescu became a political prisoner after being convicted for the support he provided to anti-communist Colonel Gheorghe Arsenescu (1949-1950).
