Subiect: Adding to the Genealogy of the Poenari Boyars. The Poenars from Almăj Dolj and Dobra Mehedinti Using a lot of edited and especially inedit written historical springs, the authors reveal the Poenari boyars genealogy, from the village Poiana, Gorj County, focusing their attention on two less known branches of the family tree related with the one of the Basarabs: the Poenars from Almăj, Dolj County and the ones from Dobra, Mehedinţi County. Based on a huge documentation from the County Service of the National Archives, the study includes numerous references to the role the two branches played in the political and social and cultural life of Oltenia, especially during the 18th – the 19th.
