Studiul paleofaunistic al materialului osos descoperit în locuinţa LM1 din sectorul LM al oraşului roman Porolissum

  • Subiect: Paleofaunistic Study of the Animal Bones from the LM 1 House in the LM Sector of the Roman Town Porolissum The authors present a paleofaunistic study of the animal bones discovered by archaeological excavations in' the year 1990, in the LM 1 house in the LM sector of the Roman town Porolissum. Fig. 1. 636 animal bones were classified, from which 207 whole bones and 429 fragments. All these animal bones were found in the successive archaeological levels of the house. No dividing walls, no fire places, no pits were found. The bones have been measured, the results being comprised in primarily and synoptically tables (1-4). The most representative ones have been photographed. Fig. 2-5. The discovered animal bones represent the following species: cattle (70) (individual animals), sheep (40), porcines (33), cervides (8), poultry (G), horses (3), carnivorous animals (2). The cattle are a type of urus (bos taurus primigenius clomesticus) and they were raised especially for the meat, milk and skins. The sheep belonged to the rudimentary autochthonous breed and were raised for their, mest, milk, wool and skins.
