- Subiect: The Exchange of Letters of the Royal Pair with Prince Karl Anton The National Archives of Romania hold a vast correspondence of the first King of Romania, Carol I, with his father, Prince Karl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. A new German scientific edition published by S. I. Zimmermann in 2022, offers the complete original letters of both the king and his father, between years 1866, when Carol, being elected as Prince of Romania, came to his new country, and 1885, when his father passed away. Additionally, this edition contains the letters written by Queen Elisabeth of Romania to her father-in-law, which are also preserved by the National Archives of Romania. Thus, the edition offers for the first time the correspondence as a dialogue between the three historical personalities, revealing some lesser known facts about their family relationships and their way of living, next to a wide range of interesting topics discussed mainly in the letters of the Prince-Father, who was an important counselor of his son during his first reigning years as Prince of Romania. A selected edition of the correspondence was also published in Romanian translation in 2023, focusing on the most important historical moments and the political conflicts, as well as the personal and emotional aspects of the relationship between father and son in the period between 1866 and 1881, when Carol was crowned as king of Romania.
