Câteva medalii excepţionale privind Marea Unire a României

  • Subiect: Some exceptional Medals concerning the Great Unity of Romania A few unpublished medals of particular interest for the history of Romanian 1918-Unity are presented, i.e.: fig. I, the personal medal of the leader Alexandru Vaida-Voievod as member of the Society of the Romanian immigrants in USA "FRĂŢIA ROM NĂ" (The Romanian Brotherhood). Youngstown-Ohio; fig.2, the medal in the honour of the defenders of the town Galati (harbour at the Lower Danube), against the Russian Bolshevik Army, falsified in a former catalogue; fig.3, the military award-medal of the marine officers for the defence of Galati; fig. 4, the medal of gratitude to the supporters of the Peace Treaty after the first World War; fig. 5, the medal honouring the unforgettable leader Iuliu Maniu; fig.6, the medal of the 75th anniversary of the Great Unity. On this medal, the chronological history meets the philosophy of history. The author bewails the extermination of our own democratic personalities and their libraries, memoirs and collections during a dark period of the proletarian inculture, which represents today a difficulty in studying and writing the true history of the country. Finally he expresses a certain worry that the aims of the Great Unity of Romania and of his later successors were with hesitations managed, but he hopes for a better future.
