  • Subiect: Guild Chest in the Collection of the History and Art County Museum of Zalău In the Museum of the History and Art (of the county) in Zălau, there are six guild chests belonging to the former guilds in the town Zălau. They were used for keeping both the archives of the guild and its funds. The archive documents found in them were partially published. The present paper deals with the above named chests as such, with the items found in them or the items acquired by the Museum of Zălau at the same time with the chests and belonging to the guilds. The chests are dated in the 19th century and are considered the most recent guild chests. The six chests, rectangular, are made of wood and are painted; and the lid or five of them (except the lid, of the fullers guild chests) there are one or two rectangular boxes, used probably for keeping important documents or treasury of the guild. On the inner side of the lid the names and the functions of the 11uild heads are written. Some of the chest may be seen in the main exhibition of the Museum.
