  • Subiect: The study shows how it was organized Romanian Greek Catholic Church in Transylvania before the arbitration from Vienna (August 30, 1940) and changes of the church during 1940-1944. Knowing the important role that the church was held in the community as a force that is exercised by maintaining a spiritual and identitary unity of Romanians in Transylvania, Hungarian new rule started a real oppressive campaign against the representatives of the church and started too a plan of forced Magyarization of the Romanian population, which included the imposition of abandoning the own’s confession and forced conversion. Romanian priests were persecuted, insulted, expelled or forced to flee, those who remained in their parishes have been deprived of wealth, churches were desecrated and closed, seminaries and theology faculties have been removed, the Romanian bishops were not recognized by the Hungarian authorities.
