Consideraţii privind restaurarea a două hărţi provenind dintr-un atlas Homann, editat la Nurnberg în anul 1751

  • Subiect: Considerations regarding the restorations of two maps from Romanian atlas, publishesd at Nurnberg in 1751. The county Museum of History from Braşov keep a rich and precious collection of old maps (XVII- XVIII th Century). Among the rare and precious pieces, you can find an atlases of " Homannîs Successors" published at Nurnberg in 1751. ls to be mentioned that famous German map drawer Johann Baptist Homann (1664-1724) founded an institute of map drawing. The richness of maps and also the frequent use as the old maps in exhibitions and catalogues determined, as priority, their restoration. The first drawing board entitled "Helvetia Statibus Liberis" is made by the Gennan map drawer Tobias Mayer, and represents the cans of Switzerland. This is remarkable for the artistic decorating. The second map, entitled " Gli Stati dîltalia" published by Homannianis Heredibus, presents Italy together with island near the Italian coast: Sardinia, Sicily, Corsica, Malta, Dalmatian coast. The cartridge artistically decorated has the papal signs, allegorical characters, sea monsters and also mythological characters.
