Patru ani de eforturi pentru limitarea şi anularea consecinţelor Dictatului de la Viena (1940-1944)

  • Subiect: Efforts to limited and annulled the consequences of the Vienna dictate 1940-1944 The acceptance of the Vienne Dictate (August 20, 1940) meant the beginning of a period of fatal political and national errors and everything that followed after was a consequence of these errors. Ion Antonescu became a state leader as the result of a coup in September G, 1940. As an objective of his activity Antonescu established the limitation and the annulment of the diplomatic, political and military consequences of the territorial assignment accepted in the summer of 1940. As a consequence, General Antonescu directed his policy towards Italy and Germany and this fact brought about a total and unconditioned integration into the Axe-system, and further the participation in the military campaign from the east against the Soviet Union beyond the Nistru. During September 1940 there was an intense correspondance between C. I. C. Brătianu, Iuliu Maniu and Ion Antonescu. The letters reveal the serious errors and the unsolvable dilemma in which the Antonescu regime found itself especially after the disaster of Staling1ad. Having in view the imminent approach of the front to the border of the Nistru river and the possible loss of Bassurabia and the North of Bucovina, the regaining of Transylvania, which had been given up, became an urgent need, imposing thus the outrunning for gaining the allies goodwill.
