  • Subiect: The house has always represented the material basis of the family, a pillar of the social order. New significance was added to the house, throughout the 19th century. As women had no access to business and political affairs, the house was their exclusive domain. Due to their contribution, the private palaces of Bucharest were famous for their parties. The private palaces architecture was especially conceived for their social functions, for the demands of their owners who were usually socially and politically active personalities.
