Lupta Bisericii Române Unite din Sălaj pentru drepturi naţionale şi făurirea statului naţional unitar roman între anii 1848-1918

  • Subiect: The Fight of the Romanian Uniate Church from Sălaj for National Rights Between 1848-1918 The paper aims at grasping the essential moments of the Romanian national movement from Sălaj county which involved the unite /Greco-catholic/ church through its representatives between the years 1848-1918. The vicarage of Silvania/in Şimleu Silvaniei/was an important coordination center for the political and cultural actions of that time; it united all the national forces, both secular and ecclesiastical, in the most decisive moments in the life of the Romanians from Austro-Hungary. Under its leadership the Romanian population from this part of the country /Sălaj/ fought to put into practice the program of the 1848 revolution as well as to support the initiatives and decisions of the Romanian National Party after its setting up. The entire activity done by the united /Greco-catholic/ clergy and the Greco-catholic layman constitutes part of the fight of all Romanians from Transylvania against the national oppression in Austro-Hungary; fight, that finally led to national unity / the 1st of December 1918 / of the Romanians.
