Despre castrele romane de la Porolissum. Un nou castru din timpul lui Traian descoperit la Porolissum

  • Subiect: THE ROMAN CASTRA FROM POROLISSUM. A NEW CASTRUM FROM THE TRAJANIC EPOCH DISCOVERED AT POROLISSUM The archaeological research that took place in the last years at Porolissum, on the vast terrace in the south-eastern vicinity (50-100 m) of the latus dextra of the big stone Roman camp from the Pomet hill, identified the position of the forum corresponding to the Roman municipium Septimium. A "V"-form ditch was detected at the south-western end of the terrace (at the south-western limit of the forum), under the layers correlated with the previous civilian habitat. It is linked with the wooden phase of a former fortification from which we have left, partially in the form of the stone forum, the "V" -shaped ditch. This ditch has a remaining width of 3.80 m and its deepest point lies at -3.20 m, with respect to the 0 level (of vegetation), or at approximately 2.20 mas compared to the ancient surface of the wooden phase. Enclosing an area west of the trajectory of this ditch (revealed in section S. IV/2000, with the same orientation), we can conclude that the straight surface of 100 x 130-140 m displayed military structures (military camp) in the first years of the Roman presence (during the reign of emperor Trajan). The ditch bares the undoubtful mark of repairings and the two phases are plain to see in the profile (plate 4).
