Trecut şi prezent în conservarea biodiversităţii în România

  • Subiect: The biodiversity conservation is not very new concepts, in Romania in the past it was named protection and nature conservation and the application of these concepts was held, for the first time, at the beginning of the XX-th, especially with the establishment, in 1930, of the Commission for the Nature Monuments Protection (CMN), as part of Romanian Academy. CMN activity had resulted, in 1985, a total of 130 protected areas, that totaled approximately 75,000 ha. In present, after the signing of the Rio Declaration, in 1992 year, and after the EU aderation, in 2007 year, Romania commit to conserve its biodiversity. By conforming to these documents, Romania was expected to pass legislation, develop administrative structures and promote various specified actions towards maintaining a balance between environmental and economic development. In 2009 year, the romanian Protected Areas (PAs) network covered 19.29% of total Romania surface, mostly in the newly created Natura 2000 networking. By analysing the past and the current situation of biodiversity conservation in Romania, this paper will focus on evolution of protected area number and surface at national level.
