Consideraţii noi privitoare la bâlciul sau "sborul de la Sf. Ilie" din Câmpulung-Muscel (sec. XIV-XVIII)

  • Subiect: New Considerations Regarding the Fairy or „The Flight of St. Elijah Day” from Câmpulung-Muscel (sec. XIV/XVIII) The ”Fairy of St. Elijah” (17-27 July) played an important role for the economical development of Câmpulung along the Middle Age. Though it was much older, the fairy was firstly attested in 1431. Between the 15th and the 17th centuries the fairy was situated in the backside of a church which eventually took its name after that of the fairy. Between 1638 and 1647, during the reign of Matei Basarab, the fairy was moved near Negru-Vodă monastery. This annual fairy is mentioned in the writings of some travelers. Merchants from Transylvania and Hungary, as well as from the Ottoman Empire were present here. Thus the trading of the area was very developed. Despite the fact that the subject has been already discussed, the author thinks that he tackles the subject from a new point of view.
