Conservarea şi depozitarea colecţiei de icoane pe sticlă a muzeului Ţării Făgăraşului "Valer Literat"

Subiect: Constituting an interesting field of our popular art, glass icon painting of Transylvania triggered a broad debate, especially about the moment of their beginning. Within the framework of this form of folk art, Făgăraş Country with its gifted glass icon painters (who can be classified in two currents: church painters, who painted also icons, and peasant painters, who learnt from one another the icon painting) occupied a prestigious place. The glass icon collection of the Făgăraş Country Museum "Valer Literat" contains pieces of the most important icon painters who activated in the area during the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. This study present the most frequent degradations suffered by the glass icons from the museum collection, degradations which affected the quality of the color layer, and the improper storage conditions of this important col/ection of our museum.
