Tezaurul monetar de la Romita, sec. XVII

  • Subiect: The Coin Hoard of Romita, 17th Century The paper deals with a hoard of 25 guldens (2/3 taller) found in the Romita village, Sălaj district. The hoard is kept in the Museum of Zalău. The coins were issued in Saxony, in Sachsen - Lauenburg, Sachsen - Meiningen, Sachsen - Gotha - Altenburg, Sachsen - Eisenach, in Anhalt - Zerbst, Schwarzburg, Sayn - Wittgenstein, Oettingen, Holstein - Plön, Holstein - Gottorp, in the bishopric of Lübeck, in Montfort and Brandenburg. The authors give the full list of the coins and discuss some of the issues in the hoard. With two exceptions (no 1 and 24) the coins of the hoard are "hedgerow coins" (Heckenmünzen). The Romita hoard belongs to the Transylvanian hoards with guldens (see f.n. 22) and also to the long series of hoards buried after the Austrian intervention in Transylvania (see f.n. 26).
