George I. Ionescu-Gion - 151 de ani de la naştere şi 104 ani de la moarte

  • Subiect: Petre Ispirescu, Holiday Maker in Câmpulung in 1884 In 1884, the writer Petre Ispirescu made a trip to Câmpulung, a well known town for its curative water from Bughea (a block of Câmpulung), as well for its climate and for the beauty of its landscapes. Ispirescu is especially attracted by the traditionalistic spirit of the inhabitants which is frequently presented as opposed to that of the people from Bucharest. His writings have the exact spirit of the folk collector, the classic spirit when the gods are evoked, and the romantic features of the epoch. Because he published the impressions firstly in the newspapers and then in a volume and because these notes are very accurate (descriptions of historical monuments and of various places, as well as precise data about roads, inns, supplying, and transport are included) this traveling memorial could be considered to be the first tourist guide of Câmpulung Muscel.
