Colecţia de artă plastică contemporană a Muzeului Judeţean de Istorie şi Artă Zalău I. Pictura

  • Subiect: The contemporaneous Art Collection of the Museum of History and Art of Zalău I. the Paintings The Museum of History and Art of Zalău was founded in 1951 and was reorganized in 1971. The Museum bas three departments: ancient history (archaeology), fine arts and folk art. The collection of fine arts was founded in 1965. It begun with 55 paintings, sculptures and drawings, a gift from the town council of Cluj. Then, their number increased to 456. The majority of the paintings, dealt with in the paper arc done by artists from the city, of Cluj-Napoca (some of 'them: born in the Sălaj district), Bucharest, Baia Mare, Timişoara and Oradea. Up to 1981 the paintings were exhibited only on special occasions in various places in the town. The painter Ion Sima, born in the district of Sălaj, made a valuable gift of his numerous paintings to the Museurn. Thus, the lon Sima gallery came into being, as a part of the Art Gallery of the Museum; · 'Later on, in 1983, a· new wing of the Art Gallery was built and more paintings 'could be exhibited. The paintings of the Art Gallery show a great thematic and technical variety: the artists whose paintings are present in the Gallery belong to various generations and art-schools. C. Baba, A. Ciupe, H. Catargi, M. Eleutheriade; R. Schweitzer, V. Frimu, A. Mohi belong to the older generation. S. Bălaşa, C. Blendea, Tr. Brădean, V. Crişan, V. Mărginean, I. Mitrea, G. Năpăruş, A. Ned'el, P. Sima belong to the middle generation. The young ones are G. Apostu, T. Botiş, I. Grigore, S. Ilfoveanu, C. Iacob. The paper ends with a catalogue of the paintings and some remarks on the theme and techniques of the various paintings. Its main purpose is to contribute to a better knowledge of the paintings in the Art Gallery of the Museum.
