Transilvania şi cucerirea independenţei României (1877-1878)

  • Subiect: Transylvania and the Conquest of the Independence by Romania (1877-1878) The present paper points out the close cooperation between the Transylvanian Romanians and the Romanians from Romania in the war for their independence. The enlistment of a large number of volunteers from Transylvania, the substantial assistance in money and food, as well as the medical assistance given to the Romanian army confirmed the fraternal feelings and the hope that Romania's independence would bring the liberation of all Romanians. The letter here annexed, written by Elena Pop de Băseşti, reveals the contribution of the population of Sălaj to the common cause. The Romanian decoration awarded to Elena Pop was accepted by her with open pride in the name of the people of Sălaj.
