Direcţiile migraţiei păsărilor în nordul Transilvaniei

  • Subiect: Migration Directions of Bird in Northern Transylvania The paper presents the main routes followed by migratory birds through the northern part of Transylvania, including Sălaj country. The autumn passage presents three different directions, each exemplified by some representative species: 1° The NW-SE direction, typical of the White Stork, but also taken by some species of passerines from the central Europe, as for instance the Blackcap, Lesser Whitethroat, Marsh Warbler, Golden Oriole. 2° The NE-SW or E-W direction is followed by birds that pass from the European part of the USSR and West Siberia to the winter areas in the south-central Europe or in Africa (White-fronted Goose, Bean Goose, Starling, Rook, Mallard, etc., also the autochtones Quails). 3° The N-S direction. Only few species migrate on this direct route: Woodcock, Swift, Crane, Swallow, House Martin, Spotted Flycatcher, Willow Warbler. The birds breeding in Transylvania choose in their turn one of these three directions, joining the conspecific passage migrants. The situation is reversed during the spring migration, excepting the species that come back to Europe on other routes than those followed in autumn (e.g. Golden Oriole, Red-backed Shrike).
