Aspecte privind activitatea inspectoratului general al jandarmeriei (septembrie 1940-ianuarie 1941)

  • Subiect: Summary: From September 1940 till January 1941, the General Inspectorate of Gendarmerie has suffered organizational, personnel and target changes. General Ion Antonescu, the prime-minister, decided to increase the gendarmes’ salaries, but at the same time to raise their professional level. During this time, the gendarmes had to collaborate with the Legionary Police, whose duty was to monitor the activity of the law enforcement. The Iron Guard revenged against the ones that repressed it, so many gendarmes were arrested, abused or even killed. During the Legionary Rebellion (January, 21-23, 1941) the gendarmes confronted with the Iron Guard`s members and kept the situation under control.
