Introducere în tehnica şi arta fotografiei din secolul al XIX-lea. Inventatorii şi maeştrii

  • Subiect: This paper deals with the beginning of photography, its inventors and the main techniques used in 19th century. Niepce, Daguerre and Talbot, fathered photography. Its spread worldwide was due to professional portrait photographers such as Alexander S. Wolcott & John Johnson in New York, Jean Baptiste lsenring in St.Gallen and Louis-Auguste Bisson in Paris, all of them using the daguerreotype, Robert Adamson from Edinburgh who used the calotype, Disderi, Carjat, Reutlinger in Paris who, in mid 1850s, used the wet collodion process. Beside these professional photographers were others who mastered works of art of enduring value and interest: Nadar who took likenesses to every important French artist, actor, writer or musician of his time; Oscar Gustav Rejlander and Henry Peach Robinson who mounted impressive tableaux vivants; Julia Margaret Cameron and Lady Clementina Hawarden who were attracted by religious or idyllic compositions; Gustave Le Gray, Henry le Secq and Charles Marville who depicted magnificent landscapes, seascapes or cityscapes (especially historic monuments). With the technique's improvement in late 1880s, photography moved from professionals to amateurs and became a good for everybody.
