Neamurile germanice în operele narative de la începutul evului mediu

  • Subiect: Some of the “Narrators of Barbarian History”, as Walter Goffart called the historians who wrote about the succesor kingdoms in Western Europe gave informations about events that have taken place on the territory of modern days Romania. I intend to analyse the manner in which Iordanes, Isidore of Seville, Paul the Deacon presented the germanic peoples of their period, especially their own, to show how difficult is to use this kind of writtings as sources for Romanian history. The final goal of these historians was not to reconstruct history “as it really was” but to show the image of a new Chosen People who succeded to the Romans and who had the legitimacy to rule the kingdom founded on an ancient Roman territory. Therefore, the fiability of the informations they have written about peoples living on contemporary Romanian territory have to be seriously questioned
