Tragedia de la Alejd din 24 aprilie 1904 şi rezonanţa ei în vechiul regat al României

  • Subiect: THE 24 APRIL 1904 TRAGEDY OF ALEŞD AND ITS ECHO IN THE OLD KINGDOM OF ROMANIA The public opinion în the Old Independent Kingdom of Romania became aware from the very beginning and took great interest în the news and commentaries on the tragedy of Aleşd on 24 april 1904 where, as a consequence of the population's political manipulation be the circles belonging to the governing power in Hungary, 33 people were killed, over 100 wounded and many others were investigated judged, and sentenced. Most of the victims were Romanian peasants from the neighbouring villages on the Crişul Repede Vallez. The most numerous readers of the first news on the Aleşd tragedy were those in the Old Kingdom of Romania. The press in its capital - „Universul", „Adevărul", „Epoca", „Voinţa Naţională" a.s.o. as well as in the provinces (Iaşi, Galaţi, Constanţa a.s.o.) published ample rapports and analyses on the event; they correctly infonned the large public (the one of the French, German, Hungarian newspapers and gazettes or the Jewish press published în Bukarest included) by revealing the facts and emphasising the responsibility of the true culprit. The inspired expressions of the natural feelings of the entire public opinion have therefore the value of a genuine historic document. Ali these evidences have a contribution to discarding the significant denaturation of the event by the historiography during the communist regime which, for political-propagandistic reasons, presented the 1904 Aleşd tragedy as a peasant uprising with a significant socialist ideological component.
